On April 25, 2017, Dr. Trisia Farrelly, Co-director of Massey’s Political Ecology Research Centre (PERC) visited Wageningen University, the Netherlands. Dr Farrelly’s visit, to the Sociology of Development and Change (SDC)/ Centre for Space Place and Society (CSPS) and the Political Ecology Network (POLLEN), included a forum discussion she held to explore how Massey’s PERC membership could work collaboratively with other individuals and node members of POLLEN. The promotion of political ecology through interaction and collaboration as a node of POLLEN is an important aspect of the PERC. There was particular enthusiasm for shared teaching across POLLEN members whereby students and researcher could present research or engage in discussions via video link. Additionally, after a lunch meeting to discuss distance teaching to academic staff, Dr Farrelly also presented her research on the political ecology of plastics to a student and staff audience.
