The three-day <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ism.lu.se\/en\/opening-the-bin\">conference<\/a> was well attended by social scientists and humanities waste researchers who gathered to discuss &#8220;the places, roles and trajectories as well as the meanings, practices, and vocabularies of waste in culture and society.&#8221; Dr Farrelly presented on the need for more transdisciplinary waste research. It was a pleasure to attend a conference where everyone \u2018spoke the same language\u2019 and shared similar concerns and perspectives on global waste challenges. Professor Myra Hird and Professor Gaye Hawkins (also a keynote presenter at PERC\u2019s \u2018Lives and Afterlives of Plastics\u2019 conference in June-July this year) gave excellent keynote speeches at the conference.
